WHAT IT MEANS TO BE ECCENTRIC AND WHO CARES ANYHOW

I’m not a pretentious gal, so I’ll never pretend what this word means. Actually, what I am is very proud of myself, my husband too. Not that my folks couldn’t support me but I never finished school back then. I had a tragic fall out with the family and would you believe that it wasn’t over money but religion. Initially, you could say that I was foolish to hook up with my best pal while still in high school but we couldn’t wait. We believed in love and we believed that we were both in love with each other.

To make matters worse, my family were staunch in their religious beliefs. To my mind, as young as I was then, then it didn’t make much sense anyhow, their approach to religion was as narrow-minded as they come. Today, nearly thirty years later, not much seems to have changed. But what do I care, I’m eccentric, not that I know much about what that means, and I do my own thing anyhow, and don’t much care what others think about it either.

i-am-eccentric

As far as I can tell, I’m a successful role model for other stay at home mothers in my neighbourhood to follow. So, let’s just say that your neighbourhood is as run-down as mine is. There, another business possibility just popped into my head. I don’t like cleaning up trash either, but, hey, here’s money to be made, guys. It’s eco-friendly time. What’s the motto the sophisticates and aesthetes are pretentiously bellowing out; recycle, re-use, and who cares what the other is. Fact is it’s us who are at ground zero.

We are bearing the brunt of hard economic conditions. Where’s there’s unemployment, its worse on our side. I am actually quite disgusted when I see this, never mind the personal reasons why, but among all the trash that everyone walking about ignoring and not bothering to pick up, me included, are people lying about sleeping. These are the ones that have simply just given up on the hard life. Don’t let that be one of you.

Let another man’s trash be your fortune. That’s not my saying. I’ve read it somewhere before. And so should you. Read as much as possible on how you can improve your own life, even if it means staying in the kitchen for now. If you can’t read too well get down to your community class and take up lessons. You don’t need to be shy or embarrassed about this, because, sure as anything, there’ll be quite a few others just like you doing the same thing.

Not only that, there’ll be other self-help classes you can take part in. there’ll be self-empowerment exercises that you might have to do. It’ll make you feel a little ridiculous sometimes, but it’s all worthwhile in the end, because it’s gonna make you feel like and be a better person. It’s going to give you guts, like I have, to go out and try new things. It’s all designed to inspire you with new ideas and give you great courage to start small with new business opportunities for yourself.

Seeing as there’s not much work about that you are qualified to do, you may as well qualify yourself to do something that interests you. I don’t discount or look down on the trade, a job is still a job whichever way you look at it, but even so, I don’t count flipping burgers or ringing up the cash register at a burger joint as a meaningful job. Maybe for you, you never know. Maybe you like this sort of thing, and maybe you’d like to own your own joint someday, who knows.

All I know is I’m going to flip myself out of here and get going before your next post arrives.
