Rethinking Your Business – Part 1

I was watching my Friday night shows and nice little commercial popped on about creating your own website for your small business. I, of course, had to check it seeing I build templates, headers graphics for the same purpose. It gives a person complete simple control of design, there own content or just modifying what is already there and quite a few other features for only $4.99 a month.

Not that I was so worried about this totally squashing my design business but it did spark a fire under my rear to research my market once again and see what others were offering right now. It’s been an enlightening day, while most stayed some what the same, I noticed others who were much closer to exactly what I was doing were offering their designs much lower than mine. Almost giving the designs away in my honest opinion. The unfortunate part for me is these sites are on the 1st page of the search engines, while I am not far behind on the pages, I am not on the first page of any of the same keywords.

Where am I going with this? I was already thinking about my design business and the fact it does significantly less business than my affiliate marketing and writing business. Is it time to lay it to rest? Am thinking it is time to rethink this business.

My ideas:

Continue to offer only the header graphics and banners/buttons only from my wahm blog. Turn Jensen’s Designs into my off season craft blog and run it with my husbands and mine etsy shop. Hate for the domain to go to waist and we are a creative bunch, so it will still fit well with it.

I do however, think it’s time to take my design site down a notch and focus more on what is working right now. I can also thank, besides that commercial, Kelly McCausey for ringing in my head to really think or better yet rethink the aspect of my business from her post here.

With both, I did what everyone should do now and again, rethink, research and regain yourself in your business(es).

I will continue to research, rethink and figure out the best way to regain myself whether I change it up, close it down or whatever I decide and will update you each step of the way!
