			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Kids going back to school generally means a step back to routines and more structure.  For some it will mean more time to fit your routine back in more regularly.  Workouts sadly are something that can get lost quickly in the busy Summer.  Or they may have become so sporadic it&#8217;s difficult to remember if you got your workout in yesterday.  I like to use the kids going back to school as a marker for changing up my workouts.</p>
<p>Changing your workouts up every 8-12 weeks is a good idea for a couple of reasons.  First being that your body adapts to the workouts in about that time and you won&#8217;t be seeing the same results.  You will need to workout longer, increase weight, and/or do a lot more reps to see better results.  OR just change your workout entirely and confuse your muscles into working hard again.  Secondly, by 8-12 weeks I&#8217;m bored with my routine and I&#8217;m sure you are too.  Changing up your usual workout will add a little spark under your butt.</p>
<p>Whichever reason you choose to change up your workout, this is a great time to do it.  Have you been wanting to take a class?  Maybe plan on training for a 5 or 10k or more?  Choose something new and add some more fun to your workout.</p>

		<title>When Your Day Turns Into a Monday</title>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Sometimes days just fall apart.  I was excited to get going today and as I started digging into more and more emails, it all just went on it&#8217;s own tangent.  But I&#8217;ll definitely take some responsibility for not getting control in some areas.  There were some steps I should have taken mid-afternoon to change tracks.</p>
<p>1.  Close my email account.  This should have been the first thing I did.  Mid day I had answered the weekend emails and was just going through  newsletters that were sent to me and hitting emails as they came in.  I know this is a major time waster and splits up my projects.  In this case I had a small fire show up in my inbox THAT WASN&#8217;T MY FIRE!  If I&#8217;d closed my email I could have taken care of it in the morning and during business hours and it wouldn&#8217;t have gotten me unnecessarily flustered.</p>
<p>2.  Put to do list in order.  My list is in no particular order and that rarely works well for me.   I need my hottest-must-do&#8217;s at the top.  I should have sat down and re-evaluated on paper.</p>
<p>3.  Got offline.  I should have shut the computer and found something to do for an hour like&#8230;</p>
<p>4.  Go for a run.  I definitely should have gone for a run to clear my head and refocus.  I know it works.</p>
<p>Letting the day turn into a &#8220;Monday&#8221; was partly my own fault and it always ends up like it did.  Going into even more of a tailspin.  It&#8217;s only 6:30 here at my house but I&#8217;m calling it a biz day.  My daughter&#8217;s not home tonight so I know I won&#8217;t be able to sleep much.  I&#8217;m going to turn to blog posting for the rest of the night.</p>
<p>Tomorrow I will start early and fresh with a run mid-morning!</p>

<p>So it being Monday, are you going to work out this week?  If you don&#8217;t plan it, then it won&#8217;t happen.  Making a commitment to your health has to be a priority, but it&#8217;s only as important as you decide to make it.</p>
<p>The perfect time depends on you.  Get up a little earlier, use the kids naptime, or workout after the kids go to bed.</p>
<p>During the Summer months the easiest way to get your workout in is to include the family.  Get outside.  Get to the lake or pool, runaround playing football or softball, run through the sprinkler, just get moving and spend at least 20 minutes a day doing it.  By including the family you are making some memories and teaching them to keep moving as well.</p>

Kids got out last Friday and the fun was let out as well. We&#8217;ve had weeks and weeks of torrential downpours.  The sun came out finally and all the BBQ&#8217;s let loose. lol  We literally spent all three nights this weekend eating with friends. Great times!</p>
<p>Camping trips, roadtrips to friends houses, kids camps, trips to family, and remodeling projects. WHAT IN THE WORLD?  How am I going to get anything done and keep my head attached?</p>
<p>I have already informed everyone in my personal life that I can&#8217;t make a commitment to an event without going home and looking at the calendar first. I guess this would be a major reason why a new phone would be a good idea.  I could really use the calendar option and just plug right in with a work calendar as well.</p>
<p>We do end up with a lot of last minute trips.  Friends go off camping and invite us, nothing planned, we&#8217;re out of here.</p>
<p>My work has to be scheduled this Summer.  Last Summer I wasn&#8217;t working online like I am now.  I try to always be in town for my seniors fitness class on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.  I am taking advantage of this schedule to also get work scheduled for those days.  I do schedule any training clients for those days as well.</p>
<p>For my workouts? Wow, this is where last year it really fell apart and I&#8217;m determined not to let it happen this Summer.  My friends and I have committed to running a half-marathon in September.  That means I can not slack on the workouts at all.  Thankfully two of the friends we camp and hang out a lot with are also doing the half-marathon. We can do runs while on vacation together.  Other days I have committed publicly to running on M, W, F after my seniors fitness class.  I posted it to facebook and I got a friend to run a day or two with me.  It&#8217;s motivation AND it&#8217;s accountability.  Both are a big help.</p>
<p>Balancing it all is not going to be easy, but it&#8217;s necessary.  I do want the best of both worlds and I&#8217;m ready to work for it.  This means enjoying my Summers for the last few years that I have my teens at home.  Balancing may mean that a few things change.  I&#8217;ll adapt as the weeks go by and I find things work or don&#8217;t work.  But I&#8217;m going into the Summer with a plan!</p>
